ABOUT WORDSTYLE

WordStyle was founded in 2007 by Mary Waggoner-Moritz, an American expatriate now living near Besançon, Franche-Comté, France. Mary’s an alumnus of Emerson College in Boston; she worked for a variety of American businesses and non-profit organizations before moving to France in 1994. After teaching English as a second language, she turned to translation. Thanks to several professional translators who mentored her during her start-up, WordStyle is now into its second decade. Mary is an active member of the Société Française des Traducteurs and the American Translators Association. She loves helping other professional freelance translators find their paths to running successful businesses and continues to give presentations to this effect. Since 2017, she has also been transferring her knowledge and skills about running a freelance business in France to students in the LEACA and T2M Masters’ programs at the Dijon campus of the Université de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
